The Chevrolet Camaro ZL-1 was a COPO production car produced on a very limited basis, with only 69 1969 Camaro ZL-1s built.

They were built with the intention of entering the production car drag races. In order to qualify for these races, 50 of them had to be sold to the public. The price of the ZL-1 package was over $6,000 in 1969 U.S. currency, which made the price of the car well over twice as much as the base model of that year. The reason for this overwhelming price was due to the powerful ZL-1 engines that were dropped into the cars. The ZL-1's power output was never officially acknowledged or published by GM, and is thought to have been near 500 bhp.
