"I was up there and I saw Eric [Medlen] go low. Then Robert got up there and went 4.69. I ran back to [crew chief Austin] Coil and he said, 'Don't worry, we're gonna go.' I saw [NHRA president] Tom Compton in the staging lanes and I told him I was gonna run a track record. He said, 'How do you know?' And I said, 'I don't, but Coil said I was going to and I ain't gonna argue with him.’
"I might be 57 now but I found the fountain of youth. Coke has this new drink out called Coke Blak and it's full of coffee. I drank four of them and I felt so good I wanted to jump off Coca-Cola tower."
